Forum on IPI Palestinian Poll Showing Support for 2-State Plan

Dr. Khalil Shikaki, director of the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research in Ramallah, and Daniel Levy, a member of Israel’s delegation to the Taba negotiations with the Palestinians in 2001, participated in a policy forum debate at IPI on the results of an IPI poll that portrayed Palestinians supporting a two-state peace plan.

Roger Cohen, New York Times op-ed columnist, was one of the last international correspondents to leave Iran after spending days with Iranians who swarmed the avenues and alleys of Tehran in June to demonstrate against the outcome of the election that the government contended — to much public derision — was won by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

A new public opinion poll in Lebanon released by the International Peace Institute shows broad support for the United Nations and its peacekeeping and diplomatic activity in Lebanon, high confidence in the Lebanese Army and a pronounced concern over the role of armed militias and Hezbollah.

On April 10th, Yasser Abed Rabbo, Secretary-General of the Palestine Liberation Organization, and Haim Ramon, Vice Premier of Israel, gathered with a diverse group of UN Ambassadors and other select guests for a roundtable discussion on the Middle East peace process post-Annapolis. The session was chaired by IPI President Terje Rød-Larsen.
