UN’s Jenca on Central Asia: Build Confidence, Not Fences

At a roundtable discussion at IPI’s Vienna office on February 22, Ambassador Miroslav Jenca, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), underlined the need for new thinking and new approaches to cooperation in the region.  

 

Conferences - January 16, 2013

IPI and Masdar Launch Energy, Security Task Force in Abu Dhabi

A new task force to focus on the impact of energy on security and to examine ways of forestalling energy-related conflict was launched on January 16th at the annual World Future Energy Summit by the International Peace Institute and Masdar, a leading renewable energy company based in Abu Dhabi.

On June 26, which is UN International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, IPI Vienna officially launched a new publication entitled, "Spotting the Spoilers: A Guide to Analyzing Organized Crime in Fragile States."  



About the Office

IPI’s Vienna office is located in the Palais Harrach in the historic center of the Austrian capital, close to diplomatic missions, the Austrian foreign ministry, and the headquarters of a number of international and non-governmental organizations.

In addition to carrying out research and providing policy advice, the Vienna office hosts roundtable meetings and high profile speakers on issues related to international peace and security.
